Tips to Compare Granite Bids – Part 1

Every company offers a little bit different when it comes to pricing the granite. The pricing for granite may vary depending upon the product and options. While requesting the granite bids you must consider square footage or lineal footage and it is important that you compare bids for the same services and inclusions offered by different granite suppliers. This post and the one following this might help you to compare bids to get the best quotes for your granite installations.

Before calling any estimator, do a personal in home rough estimate of the pricing based on various facts and not just guess. Then call an estimator to visit your home and provide you with a final price but make sure that the price isn’t subject to change once he has given you a cost after analysing the installation space.

I have been spending time to prepare a list of the things you should consider to compare your granite bids and it’s almost complete to get published. Factors Affecting Granite Pricing

Numbers of different factors influence the pricing variance seen in various granite stones. The most important factor being the quality of the granite, which can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer depending on from where they have obtained the granite. Granite from some areas of the world is highly prized than granite stone from other areas and the price of the granite will reflect the area from where the granite was mined.

One more factor that will have an affect on the cost of the granite kitchen worktops is whether the granite worktop will be constructed out of granite tiles or granite slabs. Granite slabs are highly priced because they are throughout rock-solid granite while granite tiles are cut to a thickness so as to ensure that the overall strength of the granite remains and then adhered on to a worktop form using a robust epoxy.

The last thing considered to have an affect on the granite pricing is the pattern, texture and colour of the granite stone. More colourful, more brighter and more brilliant flecks a granite type contains within it, the more expensive it is than the granite that is dull and monotonous. Some granite types like pink, black or white which are quite rare to be found in nature are more expensive because they are hardest to be found.

Factors that affect the price of granite slabs

We all know that using granite in any home improvement work is not a cheap preposition. That is why it is important to help people understand some of the costs and realize that Granite worktops are a luxury and beautiful addition to your home as well as an investment.

There are four major factors that seem to affect the price of the granite stones.

1) The country of a particular granite stone’s origin.

2) Hardness: This factor majorly affects the granite price. Hard granite would require expensive diamond tooling to quarry, cut, shape and polish as compared to the softer varieties.

3. The cost of shipping and receiving the granite from the ports.

4) Supply and demand of the particular varieties of granite stones. Low quality and less attractive granite is always cheap and visa-versa.
